HAIRDRESSING AND BEAUTY TRAINING AT YAWE SOCIAL ENTERPRISE.
The beauty industry is fast-growing and constantly in demand. Whether in urban centers or local communities, skilled hairdressers and beauticians are always needed. Learning hairdressing gives trainees immediate access to employment opportunities or the capability to launch their own salon businesses. Our program is designed for learners of all backgrounds, taking students step-by-step from foundational hair care concepts to modern, complex styling techniques.
Our comprehensive curriculum blends theoretical understanding with intensive practical experience:
- Hair Care & Treatment: Understanding different hair textures, scalp health, washing techniques, deep conditioning, and chemical treatments.
- Styling & Braiding: Mastering traditional and trending styles, including cornrows, twists, box braids, dreadlocks, and weaving.
- Hair Cutting & Styling: Techniques for cutting, trimming, heat styling, blow-drying, and setting for various hair types.
- Salon Sanitation & Hygiene: Implementing professional standards of cleanliness, tool sterilization, and client safety.
- Customer Service & Communication: Building strong client relationships, understanding customer needs, and maintaining professional salon etiquette.
- Salon Management & Entrepreneurship: Equipping students with key business skills, including service pricing, record-keeping, and marketing their services locally.
At YAWE Social Enterprise, we believe the best way to master hairdressing is through practice. Trainees receive hands-on instruction in a supportive salon environment guided by experienced instructors. Students practice on mannequin heads as well as real clients under supervision, building both technical precision and the confidence required to succeed in a professional salon setting. When students choose to train with YAWE Social Enterprise, or when clients visit our enterprise salon for services, they contribute directly to a larger cause. Revenue generated from our enterprise initiatives helps sustain YAWE Foundation’s ongoing community health, youth development, and social welfare programs
