Jacinta

I am Jacinta and l have finished 5 months of training from Yawe vocational institute. I am looking forward to finishing my course in one month. During this training period, I have learnt a lot especially in class and more information during our life skills class that we have every Thursday. I have started to make some income from the skills I have learned so far. No matter what my husband does to get money for my training materials; I use it wisely in learning and providing a living that supports our family. I have been able to attract customers in our village with different fashions that I make and they have been supportive in buying the products which l make. l have sold some in markets as well. Am happy that out of the small profits that l get I can afford lunch and use the remaining balance in buying more materials for training. I no longer have to ask my husband to provide capital for materials as my business now has enough income. I am very sure that after the training I will use my skills very effectively and my life will change since I will be earning from the skills that l have acquired.

Carol Tina

is having a happy life after attaining tailoring skills from Yawe training institute. She completed her six month course in December 2023. After she did not go back to sit at home but rather quickly got to work. She was a fortunate beneficiary of a tailoring machine from one volunteer immediately after the course. She obtained a small space outside a boutique around Fort Portal town. She’s been able to make quality products and customers appreciate her work.  In addition, her personal life has really changed. She’s been supporting her grandmother to buy some basic foods on a weekly basis and she plans to be able to provide more support to the family. Additionally, she was able to buy a smartphone with the intention of learning more unique fashion designs being shared by other young professionals.
